Position Full Time, school year (10 months)

Objective: The mentor coach will work in partnership with teachers and administrators to develop center-based quality improvement plans, model and support best practices in early childhood education and management practices, and support professional improvement plans. The mentor coach will work with program teachers and subcontractor teachers to observe, coach and mentor on a regular basis; implement and maintain services within established guidelines and standards. To assist and/or develop and update classroom programs and procedures for the instructional outcomes, curriculum implementation, child assessment and classroom interactions.
Qualifications: Minimum of a BA/BS in Early Childhood Education and a minimum 3 years of classroom experience as a lead teacher.
Other Staff requirements:
1. Must have record keeping and organizational skills.
2. Must have a valid driver’s license and access to transportation and proof of insurance.
3. Possess current negative TB test.
4. Current first aid and CPR certificates
5. Complete HIV/AIDS training.
6. Must successfully pass a background check as required by CCCC.
7. Must meet and maintain all job training requirements established by CCCC.
8. Abiity to facilitate reflective practice with early learning professionals.
9. Demonstrate commitment to diversity, cultural relevancy and inclusion.
10. Be willing to travel to required trainings as necessary, such as Coach Framework training, ECERS-3, CLASS, Coaching to Fidelity, etc.
Duties include but are not limited to:
1. Support and implement the mission and program goals of CCCC.
2. Become familiar with the following performance standards followed by CCCC: WA State Licensing, Early Head Start, Head Start and Washington State Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program (ECEAP), and Early Achievers Quality Rating System.
3. Obtain and maintain reliability in Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS), Environmental Rating Scale (ITERS & ECERS).
4. Utilize third party (Early Achievers Rating’s) conducted program assessment data to identify program strengths and areas for improvement. (Early Achievers).
5. Work with the director, education manager, site supervisors, program managers, and teaching staff to collaborate with Early Achievers coaches in the development of a Quality Improvement Plans for each center and ensure progress towards goals.
6. Develop and maintain schedule for on-site visitations. Conduct classroom observations and provide documentation to teaching staff to ensure effectiveness of planning, age appropriate materials, and instructional methods to support school readiness goals.
7. Assess skills and needs of CCCC classroom staff as well as teachers from subcontracting sites for the purpose of ensuring appropriate assistance and strategies for identified mentoring activities.
8. Build relationships with teachers for the purpose of establishing an environment of trust and collaboration and providing emotional support.
9. Coach and assist teachers with teaching strategies, lesson planning, classroom management and identification of curriculum resources for the purpose of improving instruction.
10. Provide one-to-one mentor coaching to staff identified for intensive coaching, including modeling, for improving teacher-child interactions aligned with CLASS and how to work with culturally, linguistically, and developmentally diverse groups of children.
11. Conduct small group meetings for teaching staff to discuss appropriate curriculum planning and implementation, the ongoing assessment process, and how to individualize curriculum.
12. Develop and facilitate trainings in specialized topics as directed by Management.
13. Conduct CLASS and E3 observations once per year utilizing videotaping and written reports for sharing of results.
14. Evaluate progress and effectiveness of program improvements.
15. Model professionalism at all times for the purpose of demonstrating expected behaviors and actions.
16. Submit written, monthly work activities and reports to immediate supervisor and maintain regular communication with the Site Supervisors. Maintain written documentation needed for Early Achievers File of Supporting Materials.
17. In collaboration with the Education Manager and Executive Director, assist in developing and evaluating program goals and objectives.
18. Attend all required meetings, preservice, in-service and other training as required.
19. Maintain confidentiality at all times.
20. Occasional substituting and filling in for classrooms as needed.
