We are selling Rosie, a very sweet pure-bred Nigerian Dwarf who's was recently in milk. Third freshener.
She's a very sweet and gentle tempered goat. Timid and shy until she feels comfortable with you, but very consistent and easy going when she feels she knows you. Great on the milk stand, we milk her by hand only.
Nice udder with good attachment, excellent milk flow, and even teats. Rosie looks like a proper dairy goat in stature, unfortunately, her milk output is on the lower end, tending to level off at about 1.5-2 cups milking once per day. It is delicious milk, however.
We believe the low output is likely due to mishaps during her second and third kidding, lowering the amount of kids on her to singletons. The singletons did very well and matured quickly, but weren't drinking as much as triplets would have. The mishaps were not her fault at all -- Rosie has been a great dam and there was no effort on our part during the kiddings.
We're selling Rosie because we're shifting from Nigerian Dwarf goats to Mini Nubians to increase our milk volume. If we can't sell her, we might try for a fourth freshening and hope that her output may improve, but it's possible it won't. Even with the low output, she's a joy to work with and wonderful to have on the farm. She also has excellent body condition. Pretty plump little goat.
We would like to see Rosie go to a loving home. She really is a good natured goat.
Our family run hobby farm is named Scarlet Thistle Farm, with dairy goats as our main focus. We do not vaccinate and run as natural of a herd as we can. We buy no-spray hay, organic grain and alfalfa pellets, and our primary pasture is about an acre and a half. We have a "mineral buffet" for our goats (look up Little Avalon Farm) in the primary pasture.
We accept silver, Monero, or cash as payment.
If you're interested in Rosie, please let us know. We're happy to answer any questions you may have.
