90s era American-made (Monroe, North Carolina) Ludwig drum set with deep power toms.
Please note that only the tom mount, 2 mounted toms, bass drum and floor tom are included.
Bass drum is 16 (depth) x 22 (diameter) with 10 one piece double-sided Mach high tension lugs.
High tom is 11 (depth) x 12 (diameter) with 8 one piece double-sided Mach high tension lugs.
Medium tom is 12 (depth) x 13 (diameter) with 8 one piece double-sided Mach high tension lugs.
Floor tom is 16 (depth) x 16 (diameter) with 8 one piece double-sided Mach high tension lugs.
All drums are built with insanely thick and ridiculously heavy 7ply maple shells. I have been playing 3ply vintage Ludwigs my whole drumming life - these are at least 3 times heavier and 2 to 3 times louder! These drums are made for loud music and would probably break the back of any gigging drummer over the age of 35. The two mounted toms have two Monroe badges (so one is front facing whether the kit is set up left or right handed). Both toms are mounted on the bass drum with an extra heavy duty modular double tom mount (mount has a third opening for an auxiliary cymbal arm or percussion item). Bass drum has decent heads on front and back. All other heads on all drums are overdue for replacement - especially the bottom heads on the toms.
Condition of all drums, hardware and bearing edges is very good. Cosmetically, the natural laquered finish is in good condition with a few light but visible dings and scrapes here and there. The most significant flaw is the heavy "tom rash" on the top of the bass drum. At some point in this drum kit's life, someone tried mounting the toms so they would go as low as possible. They ended up going low enough so that the metal bottom rims of both toms scraped against the top of the bass drum (see photo). One of the metal hoops on each of the 12 and 13 inch toms are a little bent and should possibly be replaced for better tuning accuracy.
If you are not 6 feet tall and do not like sitting high up on the throne, these are probably not for you. These drums are way overbuilt in almost every way. For example, there are 8 double sided lugs on the 12 and 13 inch toms (almost every other brand from every other era has only 6 on drums this size).
A kit like this in perfect condition would go for at least $1500.
Due to the numerous light but visible cosmetic flaws, they are half that price!
