For sale: A fantastic deal! A Meade 6" f/9 apochromatic refractor telescope with 2.5" Moonlight focuser, 8x50 finder, cover, padded Orion telescope bag, complete with Orion Atlas EQ-G mount with manual and all accessories in the labled picture, including the rock solid Berlebach Planet tripod. The go-to computerized SynScan hand controler with GPS unit and also a separate RA and DEC hand controller (which is convenient for sidewalk astronomy since an accurate polar alignment is not necessary) are also included.
This telescope was made in Costa Mesa, California in the late 1980's, it uses an earlier ED glass and a 'longer' focal length for correction of color aberation. Now days this telescope would be called 'semi apochromatic as it's doublet design has been surpassed by more expensive triplet designs. However, it is virtually color free to the eye, and photographically does show slight blue halos around bright blue-white stars. It is a great telescope for either eyeball or photographic use, images are tack-sharp! If they are not you know for certain that the seeing is bad. I have been able to see the Enke division in Saturns rings and can usually can pick out 5 of Saturn's moons, and in steady seeing I successfully used 1100 power magnification to split the double-double (epsilon Lyrae) and iota Cassiopeia in 120° apparent field, using an Ethos 3.7mm 120° eyepiece with a 2" 2x barlow. Low power views of the Moon, Orion nebula, the Pleiades are totally awesome! This telescope is always one of the best at any star party. Of course I will show you how to set it up and use it, I have owned this telescope for many years and love it, but I'm now 82 years old and my strength has begun to fail. I can't set it up by myself anymore. I wish to sell locally as shipping could be difficult. However, I can deliver within 200 miles of Moscow, Idaho
