I have a 2005-2006 Douglas Precision 6/4 Titanium Road Bike for sale...in a size 53cm. My wife is 5'-8" with longer arms...I believe the top tube on this bike is about 54-cm. This was my wife's main summer road bike for about 10-years but has sat unused for the past 8-years. I updated all the components, stem, headset, fork and wheels for one last trip up most of the major Tour de France climbs in the French Alps before she moved to electronic shifting and carbon-fiber-wonder-bikes.....which, in my opinion, have been a disappointment in terms of durability.
The shifting groupset is 11-speed Shimano Ultegra, the wheels are custom built HED Belgium C2 rims with DT Swiss 240 hubs.....likely still the best and most durable hubs on the market. These wheels have one European trip on them....they are basically new. The front fork was upgraded to the Enve fork that you see in the pictures....it too has one trip over Alp d'Huez under its belt.
This bike frame was built by Lightspeed for Colorado Cyclist back in the mid-2000's under the house brand name of Douglas...their logo is engraved in the headtube...pretty nice touch. The main triangle of this bike is 6AL/4V Titanium, much stiffer and stronger than 3AL-2.5V Titanium. You will notice the interesting shapes of the down and top tubes, because 6AL/4V Titanium is almost impossible to draw into a tube shape with common technology....those tubes are formed and welding into the shapes you see. Basically, they use this material in fighter jets and spaceships.....that's why it looks like new after almost 20 years.....I am a big believer in the merits of titanium if you can't tell. This bike would not be going anywhere if I could fit larger tires on it, but shorter gravel rides are the current calling and this bike is just not built for big gravel tires...it is a road bike, and if you need a great road bike you can't beat this one.
We are the original owners and ordered it new, directly from Colorado Cyclist. Feel free to ask any questions you have regarding this bike.
